Digital Collage Title; Bethlehem In the work Bethlehem, I have taken inspiration from the "Brooklyn Bridge" piece by Andy Warhol and created a post card like structured work with the same design elements used by Warhol. This was created through digital manipulation of self taken photos after making the trip Bethlehem in the summer of 2016. Inspiration & ResearchAndy Warhol came from a eurpean immigrant family of poverty, and rose to fame through pieces like that Brooklyn Bridge and other works that utilize the same design elements. In terms of the meaning Warhol was trying to convey, this was almost left as ambiogous with each of his pieces. Warhol had even been working in the same century as Pablo Picasso, and their works could not be more diffrent. For my piece, set out take not only the visual design elements but also to include the same sense of ambiguity. This is was done by adding the sense of exitentialism where the piece does not serve a specfic purpose nor does convey a specific meaning to its observer. I had researched what the composition of alot piecs like Brooklyn Bridge or the "Truck portfolio" and I surprised to learn that most times Warhol Techniqus were simple, but they conclluded with a sense of complexity within them. This was another design technique that I had set aside in mind when planning the creation of the piece.

Process & Experimentation
The process began by choosing photos that I brought back from trip to Bethlehem on the summer of 2016. With the Brooklyn Bridge design elements in mind, I choose two photos, the first I captured was in a side alley with an old Audi casually parked. The second was much more scenic, it was the view of Bethlehem draped on the mountain side. First step was removing elements that I believed would have taken away from the strength of the piece, such as garbage cans and people too close to the focal points within the piece. This was done through the select tool of Photoshop where I remove a piece of the photo and have the background be compensated to appear as if the orginal. Secondly came the placement and rotation and flipping of each photo on the piece. This was done paying attention to the numeric values the photoshop displays when working with most functions. By using the same numeric values and X and Y points, I was able to create very accurate consistency. Then I added a pattern from another photo, not of landscape but one of furniture that I took in Palestine as well that had complex pattern that i utilized none the less. This was one of the more difficult proccesses beacause deciding the correct hues for this piece proved to challenging, and I had done much experimentation until I found something I believed work the the other pieces rather than against them. Then I had to replicate the layer many times within the piece then position it so that it lies evenly around the other areas of the work. All the while capturing the progress of the piece through multiple save points.

Reflection |
Looking back at the piece, I believe that I have accomplished my goals and have represened the work of my inspiration properly within the work through similar use of his design elements and techniques, althouth I feel that the piece is lacking complexity depsite the addition and subtraction of many elements throughout the process. The conlusion I have come to concerning this problem is that I have gone to far but not far enough in the directions of complexity and simlpicity within the piece. Despite this, the piece still does represent the source of inspiration through the embodyment of the Warhol's techniques and design elements.

ACT Questions
1. Clearly Explain how you are able to identify the cause effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork.
The connection between the inspiration and final piece can be identified within the method and techniques used within the piece, and similar design elements that can immediately seen upon observation and in if futher investigation is done on my piece,
2. What is the overall approach (point of view) the author(from your research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The author of the research that I did for this project was more biographer than a fellow artist and from the tone and form of his wrtting, I would assume that he feels that I have captured the right elements of Warhols Pieces.
3. What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc, while you were researched your inspiration?
I was reminded of a concept that complexity can come in many different forms of art despite having unsual techniques.
4. What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
The cental theme or idea around my research was self expression and inner thoughts and simply interpretation of things and being able to create something different that shows the time invested.
5. What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading your research?
An inference that I made based on viewing the other works and the diveristy between pieces of my source of artist inpiration was that this artist does not restrict themselves to a single type of medium.
